Marine Biology at Victoria High School

Victoria High School is located in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada and is the oldest public high school west of Winnipeg and north of San Francisco.

Victoria High School began to create a marine biology program after receiving a generous grant from the Mitchell Odyssey Foundation in 2007.  We have a 90 gallon insulated aquarium that sits in a touch table that is 32" wide X 6.5" high X 72" (6') long from the Seaquaria in Schools program.

Specimens are collected from the waters around Victoria and are provided through Westwind Sealab Supplies and the Seaquaria in Schools program.

The high school students in the Biology and Marine Biology 11 program have created the original content on the web pages including text, photos, video, and artwork.  Brent Gowan at the University of Victoria's Electron Microscopy Lab has kindly allowed us to use images that his students have taken.
